Dong, Mingke is a Associate Professor in the School of Electronics.

He obtained his B.Sc. from Beijing Institute of Technology in 1995, and his Ph.D. from Peking University in 2012 respectively. His main research field is communication and information system.

Dr. Dong has published more than 36 research papers, and 17 papers as the first/corresponding author in top journalsAmong all his papers, 13 articles were indexed by EI, and six articles were indexed by SCI. He granted 15 inventions patents .

He serves as reviewers for several IEEE Journals and international Conferences. He also takes an active part in teaching technique forum. He serves as a communication expert for reviewing some Chinese province level project applications.

He was awarded Peking University Experimental Apparatus Innovation First Prize (2011),Excellent Teacher Award (2013), Chia Tai Fellowship (2013) and China Education Ministry Electronics Experiment Design Competition (DINGY cup) Third Prize (2014).

Dr. Dong has more than ten research projects including NSFC, 863 project, National Key Technology project etc. His research achievements are summarized as follows:

1) Error Control Coding: An important research topic in communication and storage system, including RS, BCH, Turbo, and LDPC, Fountain and Polar codes. He proposed method to construct parity check matrix with large girth and higher parallelism adapted for efficient layered decoding. He also proposed belief propagation scheme with reduced complexity for layered decoding. He proposed inter-block parallel decoding structure with two sets of extrinsic information memory for double-speed decoding. He proposed concise layered decoding structure for multi-rate and multi-length QC-LDPC code. He proposed a fountain-LDPC cross layer coding scheme for broadcasting, in which fountain code ensures file level error free transmission while LDPC code ensures bit level transmission reliability. He also implemented ECC codecs in FPGA to verify his codes and provide ECC solution for seven projects. He held seven patents of new LDPC code construction and codec architecture. His patented coding scheme has been accepted by project engineering standards. His LDPC codes apply in hundreds of central-communication system equipments.

2) Signal Processing for communications: Main research area of physical layer signal processing, including modulation and demodulation. He proposed the combining of weighted multi-interval integration for flexible weighted non-coherent UWB receiver. He proposed joint frequency offset correction and channel estimation by the pilot subcarriers on consecutive OFDM symbols, which lead to no spectrum efficiency loss compared to the SIC method. He designed platforms for many key communication network projects. His platforms have supported over twenty projects, with funds amounted to about 12.3 million USD, since 2002. He is also a director of platform construction team with more than ten engineers and students.
